Caturron

Originating in the hills of Huila, Colombia, Caturrón emerged as a regional mutation of Caturra, producing unusually large cherries and showing natural resilience to leaf rust. Known for its vibrant fruit‑forward character and elevated sweetness, the variety delivers layered cups with bright acidity and surprising complexity—often more expressive than its Caturra parent. Still found mostly in Acevedo and neighboring communities, Caturrón reflects Colombia’s spirit of experimentation and careful selection. It rewards growers with healthy yields and rewards drinkers with a cup that feels both modern and distinctly regional—bold, juicy, and unforgettable.
